At the foothills of the Mourne mountains in Northern Ireland lies the village of Rostrevor, home to singer Maria Flynn.

Described as possessing a velvet pure voice, Maria began singing publicly at an early age in the local church choir, where she later became the leading chorister and choir-mistress.

Her ability to change the style and sound of her voice to suit the genre, anything from choral to Celtic, folk to jazz, has made her highly sought after over the years as guest artist at concerts, local music festivals, session singer and as vocal soloist at weddings, funerals, drinks receptions etc.

In 2001, Maria and four other local musicians formed a vocal Celtic band called Jaimidi and released an album entitled "The Turn Of The Day".

It was her love of jazz however, that recently led her to release her first solo album “The Moments Go”, a live recording of well known jazz standards by the great American songbook composers which showcases her voice at its finest.

A voice as sumptuous as it is sensual. She is a gem.”
